The Moment

Hg Catalyst was already a genuinely effective programme: Hg Capital's internal team, pairing top-tier engineers and product leads with portfolio companies to take AI products from idea to launch. The substance was there. What wasn't was an identity. Catalyst had no external brand of its own, nothing to signal what it actually was to the engineers, product leaders and founders it depended on to do the work.

The team already knew what they did and why it mattered. We worked with them to help craft the story they wanted to tell, then translated it directly into an identity built to carry it.

The Work

Catalyst's credibility rests on being built by engineers, for engineers. It is not just another initiative from a private equity firm. A corporate-feeling brand would undermine Catalyst's greatest strength.

The idea shaped all creative decision-making. The <hg_catalyst wordmark borrows the syntax of code itself. The dark, gradient visual language draws from IDEs and terminals rather than boardrooms. The site's "design, build, launch" framing mirrors the shape of a product lifecycle, not a consulting pitch. Every choice was built to signal the same thing: this is a team that ships.

The Outcome

Since launch, Hg Catalyst has shipped 30 products across more than 15 portfolio companies, averaging around 12 weeks from conception to launch, and created over $200m in enterprise value... and counting. The brand now does the job it was built for: giving a fast-moving incubator an identity as credible as its track record.
